I started setting up affiliate links on my site on a Resources page after hearing Pat Flynn and Leslie Samuel talk about affiliate marketing in their podcasts. My new site is in its infancy, and I now have it with a designer to make it look better and to optimize elements of each page. So I plan to promote my affiliate links more in the future when the site is looking better. I took the approach of “go ahead and start blogging even though the site isn’t really set up yet!” I’ll use my podcast as a way to further promote my affiliate links – primarily about course design and elearning.

This means for every 10 post you do each day, only 2 of them should be direct marketing post. If you follow this principal your social media accounts will grow.

Most visitors will probably understand that graphic ads will lead to your getting paid, but if you write a review or use an in-text link as a recommendation, you want your readers to know that may lead to compensation as well. Great post and right on target. I found that if you blog and/or do videos that sharing little stories will help connect you to potential leads. I do how-to videos and posts and I always tell personal stories or my own experiences that relate to the subject. It works and I get personal messages from people about it. It makes you more real and down to earth in the viewer's eyes. Once they like you and trust you they will become a lead and hopefully a sale. They may very well become a regular buyer because you will be their go to person. For best results it's best to blog daily and do at least one video a day.
While affiliate networks (like Shareasale) are suited rather for affiliates with no particular strategy, I’d suggest you choosing SaaS affiliate programs (software as a service) if you want to work independently on a large scale. SaaS affiliate programs are usually much higher paying, due to the value of software they offer. While it may take a bit more effort to find a customer for B2B-oriented software, revenues from closed deals are incomparable. What’s even more enticing, some of SaaS affiliate programs sell monthly recurring licenses and - therefore - offer fixed recurring commissions!
I’d stick with Amazon if I were you. All of my Amazon sites only have Amazon affiliate links. If you use Google Adsense display ads on your site, you’re literally taking people away from your site for the sake of just a few cents with these type of ads. If you direct them just to Amazon, then you have a greater chance of earning more money from that click.
Comparison/review and niche topic sites. These sites typically review products for a specific audience type or compare a line of products against their competitors. You could have a mommy blog that compares all of the large brand strollers, a marketing blog reviewing SEO tools, or a lifestyle site that compares organic makeup products. These sites will review products and push that message out through channels such as a blog post, detailed comparison chart, video, and social media.
Many affiliate marketers use paid advertising to generate additional traffic to their site and drive more sales. Paid advertising on social media is often a good place to start, as these networks tend to be more affordable.You may also want to consider taking out inexpensive banner ads on small niche sites. Depending on your niche, Google AdWords could also be a good option to drive some paid traffic to your site.
