Great article and I don’t think there’s too much that you have covered in this informative article about optimizing your site with proper SEO and numerous other ways to popularize your site and increase long term traffic. I myself have used many of the ways including PPC and Blogs but wasn’t really aware of how much I haven’t done to increase my web traffic. One thing I would add is that if you don’t have the knowledge to SEO properly, it is well worth the investment to pay someone who does. Again, great article and helpful advice.
As organizations allocate more budgets towards digital and its commercial responsibility moves away from the IT department into sales and marketing, Chief Internet Marketer sees programs like the Digital Marketing Institute’s as the next frontier of training and professional certification. “The digital jobs and skills gap is real, as a former adjunct professor and digital marketing agency owner, I see it every day.” Says Jeff Stanislow, CEO of Chief Internet Marketer. “I evaluated many courses and chose the DMI as the content is superior, and the examination process validates the skills learned,” added Stanislow.
Once you have a firm understanding of your audience, dive into your niche even further. For a healthy cooking blog, explore which brands coincide with your philosophies. Will you only support brands that use natural ingredients, are vegan-friendly, biodynamic (whatever that means), or responsibly sourced? Decide what principles you’ll follow to determine the best products for affiliate marketing through your blog.
It is important to note, however, that StudioPress is now a subsidiary of WPEngine which is the company that actually does the web hosting on which StudioPress’s Genesis framework runs. The affiliate program only works with choosing the StudioPress framework and themes, not the actual hosting on WPEngine. WPEngine has a separate affiliate program for its hosting services, which yes, is a bit confusing.

The majority of the content that you create for your brand or business should originate on your own website or blog, right? We certainly believe this to be the case. However, Facebook’s newest addition, called Facebook Instant Articles, could change how we all think about content creation and distribution. Learn more about Facebook Instant Articles; how they…
Competitor research is important because as a local business, you’ll want to be able to offer additional value in the market. Google Search is a great place to start. You can see how your competitors are positioning themselves within their ads. In this example, the below shows Google Search Ads results for local Nottingham plumbers. Terms such as “No Call Out Charge”, “Fully Qualified Plumbers” and “1Hr Response” are great selling points.
Focus on reviewing products that fall within your niche. Then, leveraging the rapport you have created with your audience and your stance as an expert, tell your readers why they would benefit from purchasing the product you are promoting. It is especially effective to compare this product to others in the same category. Most importantly, make sure you are generating detailed, articulate content to improve conversions.
7. Repeat after me – “I have an ugly baby.” A lot of business owners love their websites, but the first step to improving your website is to admit that it has some deficiencies. No website is perfect, and every website can use improvement. If you have a website, you have an ugly baby [sorry]. Just how ugly your website is, however, is open to discussion.
Affiliate marketing is one of the fastest developing online industries now. It’s compound annual growth rate (CAGR) will increase by 10.1 percent between 2015 and 2020, reaching an overwhelming total value of $6.8 billion. The business is clearly large enough for everyone to get their share. With proper approach and some dedication, even affiliate marketing rookies can earn nice money out of it. 2. Load up on data, and do it quickly. "Facebook advertising can deliver the cheapest CPM's in online marketing with the ability to test ad efficiency in real-time. Use the power editor "duplicate" tool to create hundreds of ads and change one element per ad. Give these a small budget, and you'll quickly see what works and what doesn't without breaking the bank. Double down on the ones that work, and kill the ones that don't."
That’s a great tip Sean, thanks! I was thinking about what you said in your post about some companies not putting that they have affiliate links and you having to do some digging and there are couple of companies/authors who made products I love and keep using, but I’m not sure how to go ahead and ask about the affiliate link. I read the post you linked below about asking for guest blogging, which I thought was a must-read, and so, if you think of doing a follow-up on this one, would love to read some of your tips and do’s and don’t about this. Thanks again, Sean, you’re doing some very inspiring work here!

Chances are, if you’ve only just heard about affiliate marketing, you don’t have all or even any of these skills just yet. In this case, settle down for the long haul. This is going to take some time, but you will get there – as long as you don’t give up along the way!

Also, be sure to research competitors, forums and social media to narrow down on topics for your blog.

In the blogging world it’s common to hear other bloggers talking about ways to make income. One of those ways is by using affiliate links. An affiliate link is a link with a tracking code; when a person clicks on that link and buys the product you get a commission on that purchase. Affiliate links are a great way to make passive income (see how much I make with affiliate income per month.)
In the past, large affiliates were the mainstay, as catch-all coupon and media sites gave traffic to hundreds or thousands of advertisers. This is not so much the case anymore. With consumers using long-tail keywords and searching for very specific products and services, influencers can leverage their hyper-focused niche for affiliate marketing success. Influencers may not send advertisers huge amounts of traffic, but the audience they do send is credible, targeted, and has higher conversion rates.
By doing this you will be able to select the most valuable parts of each strategy and start to build a bulletproof strategy of your own. It is important to recognize early on is that there is no “one size fits all” in Internet marketing, and that the same strategies don’t work for every niche, or even necessarily in the same niche. What works for you might not work for someone else, and vice versa. So decipher what works for you through a continual process of trial and error. Develop a system of your own. It will take some time but will be well worth it in the end. And who knows, one day you might be able to sell your system online as a top-selling product!
A huge mistake beginners make is thinking they need to do everything alone. Focus your energy on the most vital areas of your business; the areas that encourage growth and will help you reach your goals faster. If you work on too many projects at once you will find your progress is slow and hindered by many barriers. You can’t be an expert in every discipline, so outsource work where you can. Set aside a budget for delegating work to third parties that prevent you from paying attention to more important areas of your business. Taking on more and more work yourself will see you bogged down unnecessarily in tasks that will significantly slow your progress. Outsourcing will also allow you to have more valuable time away from your computer.

Brands recognize the value of affiliate marketing, and that’s evident through digital spending. As of 2016, 81% of brands and 84% of publishers leverage affiliate marketing (including Ryan here on his blog). While there’s money to be made in virtually any niche, affiliate marketing is most popular among fashion, sports, and health and wellness brands.

This is the standard affiliate marketing structure. In this program, the merchant pays the affiliate a percentage of the sale price of the product after the consumer purchases the product as a result of the affiliate’s marketing strategies. In other words, the affiliate must actually get the investor to invest in the product before they are compensated.

If you decide to go into affiliate marketing, understand that you will need a lot of very targeted traffic if you want to make any real money. Those affiliate offers also need to provide a high commission amount to you on each sale. You also need to ensure that the returns or chargebacks for those products or services are low. The last thing you want to do is to sell a product or service that provides very little value and gets returned often.
