I started setting up affiliate links on my site on a Resources page after hearing Pat Flynn and Leslie Samuel talk about affiliate marketing in their podcasts. My new site is in its infancy, and I now have it with a designer to make it look better and to optimize elements of each page. So I plan to promote my affiliate links more in the future when the site is looking better. I took the approach of “go ahead and start blogging even though the site isn’t really set up yet!” I’ll use my podcast as a way to further promote my affiliate links – primarily about course design and elearning.
By building brand awareness, you can also increase your market share. Building an audience through brand awareness is more valuable than direct sales for more than 70 percent of brand managers. Your audience begins to recognize you as the go-to for information they can use in your specific niche. Whether it’s a product review, life hack, or best way to post to social media, your audience increases in size because your brand is being seen by some who otherwise wouldn’t have visited your blog.
Great article and I don’t think there’s too much that you have covered in this informative article about optimizing your site with proper SEO and numerous other ways to popularize your site and increase long term traffic. I myself have used many of the ways including PPC and Blogs but wasn’t really aware of how much I haven’t done to increase my web traffic. Interesting – People can consume articles, news, and blogs at a rate never before seen today. They are constantly being bombarded with advertisements and therefore its become imperative to make your content easy for customers to consume. Break up blog posts with pictures or other types of useful content. Include visuals in your social media posts. People don’t really want to read something that is just a wall of text. So remember a picture is worth a thousand words.
Many affiliates struggle to make enough profit from the sales they make to allow them to reinvest that money into more content or marketing. Once you do find a product that people can and will buy online, make sure it offers enough commission per sale to make it worth your while. There’s little sense in promoting light bulbs for 1% profit per sale.
Too much too soon. Stick to one website to begin with. Don’t get distracted by shiny new niches. This will only dilute your efforts. It’s absolutely not a waste of time to spend hours on end researching the very best niche for you to enter into. The commission, cookies, product and even the advertiser’s website all have to be excellent. The last thing you want to do is invest money in creating your own site only to send visitors to an advertiser’s site that barely converts a single sale. Would you buy from the advertiser’s site? Question everything before you spend a single penny on building your new site.

Useful/relevant content on your site will drive more traffic- hence more leads. Blogging is a great idea for anyone trying to appeal to new or returning customers.
